When the operation is performed using the FemtoLASIK technique or IntraLASIK:

It is mainly indicated for patients who have adequate age and ocular parameters (graduation, corneal thickness, pupillary size and others) and who also do not present any contraindication.

What does the FemtoLASIK or IntraLASIK technique involve?

This technique is also often called 100% laser surgery because, in addition to using the excimer laser to reshape the cornea, the femtosecond laser is first applied to prepare the cornea.

As in the other procedures with excimer laser, it is a treatment that is performed on the cornea, on the external surface of the eye, in just a few minutes and with only a few drops of anesthetic eye drops.

In the technique FemtoLASIK or IntraLASIKBy applying the femtosecond laser, a FLAP (superficial disc of corneal tissue similar to a lens) is obtained, which is removed to preserve it from the action of the excimer laser. Subsequently, the excimer laser is applied to correct the patient's refractive defect.

Finally, the FLAP is put back into position, so this technique usually has a faster and less annoying recovery than PRK (there is no flap in the PRK technique).
