In special cases of high prescriptions of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism , or in which for any other reason it is not possible to perform laser treatment on the cornea and the patient is still too young to suffer from cataracts or presbyopia, there is the possibility of implanting a special intraocular lens inside the eye, called a phakic lens, to compensate for the refractive error.

What is the phakic intraocular lens operation:

They are performed under local anesthesia, without stitches and visual recovery is quick.

They are simple and minimally invasive surgeries. The lenses, made of a totally biocompatible material, are inserted into the eye, through a minimal incision (2,00 mm) with the help of an injector, fully folded. Once inserted, they unfold, docking.

The surgeries are completely painless, although some pressure sensation may be noticed. Once the effect of the anesthesia passes, slight discomfort may be noticed, which usually disappears the next day.
